Dr. Rebecca Lesser Allen
Dr. Lesser Allen is a licensed clinical psychologist based in Los Angeles, California, dedicated to helping individuals deepen their self-understanding and navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity and resilience. She provides individual therapy for adolescents and adults, parenting coaching/consultation, and virtual “Hold the Mother” workshops for new mothers exploring identity and transition.
Dr. Lesser Allen specializes in life transitions, parenthood, perinatal mental health, relationship dynamics, complex family dynamics, identity development, borderline personality traits, and career stress. She takes a trauma-informed, highly relational approach, drawing from attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and interpersonal neurobiology. Her work is rooted in helping clients understand the internal and external factors shaping their experiences, build on their strengths, and foster self-compassion. She is passionate about supporting individuals through complex emotions, transitions, and relationships, helping them move toward meaningful growth and connection.
Dr. Lesser Allen is a trained neuropsychologist and integrates her knowledge of neuroscience and interpersonal neurobiology into her therapeutic work. She has published scholarly work in the areas of schizophrenia and psychosis, social cognition, and borderline personality disorder.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in American Studies and film from Barnard College of Columbia University. She completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in neuropsychology at William James College. Her clinical internship was in neuropsychology at the Yale School of Medicine and she completed postdoctoral training in clinical neuropsychology and rehabilitation medicine at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. She has received specialized training in the treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders from Postpartum Support International.
